I missed it again!

Everyday when I pick Alex up from "school" they have a schedule of when he ate last, when he napped, when they changed his diaper. There's also a place for special notes. Yesterday I was surprised to see a note in the special notes section. It said "Alex rolled over from his tummy to back." This is the second time for him to do this at daycare. I spent all weekend trying to film him rolling over but wasn't successful. I promise I'll have video of it sometime soon!

Jumper?

I decided to pull out Alex's doorway jumper b/c he has been kicking his feet A LOT lately and I thought he might enjoy jumping. However, he needs a few more neck muscles. Check out his skinny little legs!

Alex as Shrek

Bill has been taking Alex to "school" every morning. On Friday Bill sent a picture of Alex while he was dressing Alex. At first I thought, what a cute picture. Then I realized that Alex looked like Shrek, just not green. Oh, they make me smile!

Third times a charm?

Alex snoozing away at the beginning of what I was hoping would be a third night in a row to have 5 consecutive hours of sleep. It was wishful thinking on my part, but didn't happen.

Time to play

This picture is about 2 weeks old. Alex loves his play mat that his Great Aunt Kathy got him. He really enjoys talking to Mr. Octopus and Mr. Whale.

Pattern?

So, last night Alex slept from 7:30 pm until 2 am...is this he's new schedule? I wasn't sure if last night was going to be a repeat from the night before so I crawled to bed at 9:00 pm and got 5 hours of sleep. That's right 5 hours of CONSTANT sleep. What a difference it makes when the hours of sleep are uninterrupted! Love it, but I'm not expecting it to last forever.

Yesterday Bill took Alex to "school" so I picked him up. I got there around 5ish and was glad to meet his other "teacher". Ms. Elizabeth was feeding Alex and she went on and on about him. She seems like a very caring person who can't get enought of the babies. Abby, one of the other babies (the only girl)started to get fussy so I took over feeding Alex so she could tend to Abby. One of the other moms showed up to pick up her boy and asked Ms. Ida if her little one had rolled over yet. Ms. Ida said that he hadn't then looked at me and said that Alex had. Both Ms. Ida and Ms. Elizabeth were shocked when he rolled over. He is the youngest in his "class" and they were blown away. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing...does this mean that he will be mobile sooner? Of course I want my baby to succeed with his development but ONE STEP AT A TIME! haha...corny joke. Paw Paw should be proud! ;)

What time is it?

Last night was a really good night for Alex.
He ate around 6:30, got a bath close to 7 with a baby massage and was sound asleep by 7:30. I expected him to wake up between 9:00 and 10:00 to eat so I crawled in bed early to get a cat nap. When Bill came to bed around 12:30 I realized that Alex missed a feeding. I made him get back out of bed to make sure Alex was breathing...my boy never misses a meal. Alex was sound asleep and woke up at 1am to eat. I guess this is a sign that he is maturing or a sign that I rock at giving baby massages!

Say Cheese

Here's video of Alex when he found his smile...he can charm the pants of anyone!

Day Two

Day One of daycare didn't end up that bad. Bill stopped by to peek in on Alex after lunch and picked him up. As soon as I got home Alex just started his "Momma Calls" so I was there in time to feed him.

This morning went a little smoother than yesterday. I dropped Alex off at daycare. We beat Ms. Ida by about 5 minutes so Alex was in the main room with the toddlers. All the little girls were very interested in the baby. Thank goodness Ms. Diane is smart enough to keep the little girls away from the babies!

I'm afraid that Alex is going to be known as the Spit Up Baby. I feed him right before we leave the house and burp him for about 10 minutes...however, there's always some left for as soon as we arrive to daycare. Oh well. At least we are able to get one last feeding before I leave for work!

Daycare

Today was the first day of dropping Alex off at daycare. It went pretty well. Alex spit up on Ida, one of the teachers but she didn't even flinch...she was very reassuring that everything will be just fine. I shed a few tears when I got to my car but I reminded myself that Alex will be doing the same thing there as he would be doing at home...eating, sleeping, dirtying diapers.

Bill stopped by this afternoon to check in on him and Alex was snoozing. I look forward to picking him up this afternoon so I can kiss on his cheeks!

Fun time with Nonnie

Nonnie, Bill's mother has been watching Alex my first week back to work.

Here are a few pictures I received of Alex enjoying tummy time on his playmat and talking to his friends Mr. Whale and Mr. Octopus. During this time every morning while he is having tummy time, he flips over to his back. At first I thought it was an accident when he did it last week but he flips over to his back every morning. This could be his new trick!

Morning

Last night was much better than the night before.
I got home from work in time to feed Alex around 5:15 and get some snuggles. I gave him a bath which he seems to really enjoy. He talks to me the entire time and kicks around to splash. After his bath I put him in his pj's and gave him to Bill so I could change clothes. About five minutes later, Alex had his eyes closed so we kissed him goodnight. It was 7 pm when I put him in his crib and about 7:30 when he decided to sleep until 10:30. This was really the first time for him to go to bed without much waking up and fussing. This set a wonderful pattern for the rest of the night/morning; waking every three hours to eat and easily slipping back to sleep. What a wonderful night!

1st day back at work

Yesterday was my first day back to work. I was surprised that it was fairly easy to leave until about 10 minutes from home...I realized that I was going to miss the morning snuggle session from 7 - 8 . Once I got to work, the day went by really fast. It was good to be back but once I was on my drive home, I couldn't get there fast enough.

As soon as I got home Wileen handed me Alex and let me get my snuggles. I got a good dose of Alex and the early evening was going well...UNTIL 1 am when he woke up to eat. He had such bad gas that we were up until his 4 am feeding. Needless to say, the alarm clock rang too early but I was able to get my butt in gear. I'm starting to fade quickly and it is only 9:30 am. I'm realizing that I don't function well on 3 hours of sleep.

BUT, looking at this picture makes it all go away and being a mommy worth it!

I love post bath snuggles

Alex got a bath on Monday night and it was the first time that it seemed to relax him.  He didn't fuss at all and seemed to really enjoy it.

Alex has started a new "trend" of waking up to eat every three or so hours at night.
10/10:30 pm until 1/1:45 am until 4:45/5:15 am until 7:45/8 am.
Boy, I sure hope this lasts a little longer...would be nice if these feeding times only got longer, but lets be realistic! :)  This morning he didn't seem to go back into a deep sleep after the 5 am feeding so we eventually got ourselves ready and took a walk around 7.  It was nice and in the 80's.
